Most people have heard of Botox, but what they don’t know is that it can be used for more than fine lines between your eyebrows or the furrows in your forehead. At Hidden Mickey Disney, we offer a procedure called a Botox brow lift. Here’s what you need to know about the procedure and how we can help you attain optimum results.

What is Botox?

Many people understand that Botox is used to treat fine lines and wrinkles but may not understand how it actually works. Botox is formulated from muscle relaxing proteins called neuromodulators. These neuromodulators are common cosmetic tools we use for enhancement and rejuvenation.

Botox was the first FDA approved brand of a neuromodulator on the market, joined more recently by similar products such as Xeomin, Dysport, and Jeuveau. Treatments with Botox and other neuromodulators last approximately three months

What is a Botox Brow Lift?

A traditional brow lift procedure is a surgical method that involves physically lifting the tissues and muscles of the forehead to raise the brow area. With a Botox brow lift, you can achieve a similar effect without invasive surgery.

Currently, there are five various Botox techniques that can produce a brow lift. In addition, some methods allow the cosmetic provider to lower the eyebrows. It will highly depend on your individual needs, anatomy, and brow shape as to which technique or combination of techniques will be used to lift or lower the inner portion, arch, or outer portion of the brows.

A Botox brow lift treats the lines between your brows as well as elevates the height of your eyebrows through the use of Botox injections. The underlying muscles are relaxed by the Botox, resulting in a smoothing of the skin in the brow area. The forehead muscles pull up the relaxed muscles between the brows and open up the eyes while elevating the brows.

Additional injections of Botox can also be placed at the end of the eyebrows. This allows the muscles to relax and the area to be pulled up by the forehead muscles. The amount of lift achieved will vary by patient, depending on the tone of the muscles and age.

Who is a Good Candidate for a Botox Brow Lift?

We recommend Botox to patients who are over the age of 18. Women and men with moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows can benefit from this procedure.

A Botox brow lift is best for those with sagging skin around the eyes that can be corrected through muscle lifting. You must first consult with one of our expert providers before undergoing any type of treatment. They will assess individual risk factors and explain the treatment in greater detail.

If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, then you may not be a good candidate for this type of brow lift.  This is because the active ingredient has not been studied in those groups and it is unknown if it may pose a threat to unborn fetuses and babies.

Most people are great candidates for a Botox brow lift, especially since it is not a permanent procedure. You can simply try it and if it’s not right for you, then you can wait for the effects of the Botox to wear off.

What to Expect

A brow lift using Botox is a straightforward procedure that will only take a few minutes in your cosmetic provider’s office. The cosmetic provider will inject the Botox using very fine needles, which will cause minimal discomfort. It takes about seven to ten days to see the full results of your treatment.

Once you see the results, you can expect them to last anywhere from two to four months according to the American Academy of Dermatology. Follow-up injections can be given once results begin to fade.

One of the reasons why our patients love our brow lifts is because of the short recovery time. You should be able to resume your normal schedule right away. However, we do recommend that you do not work out for at least 4 hours after your injections.

Are There Any Risks?

As with any procedure, there are mild risks. However, Botox injections are considered safe overall for most people. The side effects seen often include mild swelling, bruising, and redness at the injection site. While redness usually resolves within 10 minutes, bruising can last longer, about one week.  If so, we have a specialized laser that is specially designed for treating bruises so that they resolve faster.

A small percentage of people also experience other side effects, such as:

  • Numbness
  • Soreness
  • Headaches

Some more urgent side effects can occur, though they are very rare. If you notice any of these side effects, you should contact our office immediately:

  • Changes in speech
  • Droopy eyelids or eyebrows
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Difficulty swallowing or eating
